I base my teaching methods primarily on the principles established by Marcel Moyse, but also on the techniques of my later teachers—Trevor Wye, Raymond Guiot and Peter–Lukas Graf.
I use a lot of colourful imagery and analogies to illustrate the more abstract aspects of music making to students as I find they often need contemporary and colourful approaches to connect to music-making. The dedication, discipline and perseverance one needs to master an instrument can be hard to come by so I try to connect music to more contemporary media. I enjoy teaching students of all levels.
I have a LMusA which I earned back in my mid-teens, and a Bachelor of Music from London University. I have 20+ years of experience teaching the flute and piccolo privately and also teach both these instruments at Wenona and SCECGS Redlands.
I teach privately in my home studio in Paddington on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturdays through the day.
