Hello! Here’s a quick introduction to my background and the lessons I offer.

I’m a classically trained violinist and hold a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Music Production from the Australian Institute of Music. I’ve played as Concertmaster of the Norwood Symphony and regularly perform with the Norwood, Unley, Burnside, and Mitcham Symphony Orchestras, as well as professionally with Southern Cross Symphony, Synthony, and in string quartets for weddings etc. I also play blues concerts and contemporary music on violin, including performing with Murmurations and Paul McLeod’s Orchestra at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and I feature on several of their records. On top of this, I regularly perform as a guitarist and vocalist at cellar doors and small bars, playing both covers and originals.

I have experience teaching violin both in schools (such as the program I ran at Nowra East Public School before moving to SA) and privately. I teach students from complete beginners to advanced intermediate players, focusing on solid technique as the foundation for playing comfortably and avoiding discomfort or injury. I also emphasize confidence in sight reading, listening skills, playing by ear, improvisation, and ensemble skills, all with the goal of helping students develop the confidence and musicality needed to play with others. I really believe that playing music with others is the WHOLE POINT of music, and I aim to give my students the skills to do just that—whether it’s sight-reading, listening and keeping time with others, or improvising when needed.

I’m happy to help students prepare for AMEB exams if that aligns with their goals, but I don’t insist on exams as a requirement. For children, I believe exams can be valuable if and when they’re ready, but they’re not essential for building a love of music or developing strong playing skills.

I also teach music production, specializing in Logic Pro and Ableton, with over seven years of experience delivering thousands of hours of music and audio content for clients. This includes song production, podcast editing, and voiceover work. In addition, I teach music theory for all levels, whether you’re preparing for exams, improving your songwriting, or deepening your understanding of music.

Lessons are $80 per hour or $50 for a half-hour session. I travel to students’ homes for lessons—please text me to arrange a booking.
