B.Mus (Jazz Studies) Sydney Conservatorium of Music
My specialty and main focus as a musician and teacher is jazz and modern piano (which includes blues, contemporary and popular piano styles) – all of which I can teach to an advanced level. I also welcome students wanting to learn classical piano grades (eg for AMEB) as I have also had many years training in classical piano as well.
In 1998 I graduated with distinction from the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz, and since then I have been working as a musician performing with many of Australia’s best jazz musicians. With my performing experience I am also able to give students valuable insight into how to play with other musicians, singers and in bands and how to prepare music charts and other music for groups.
From 1998-2003 I studied classical piano at the Sydney School of Piano with master teacher Elizabeth Green, and I can give students guidance on how to develop effortlessness and ease with their piano technique.
For as long as I can remember I have had a deep love and passion for music and in particular piano music, and I thoroughly enjoy sharing the fruits of my many years of dedicated piano and music study with all of my students. I have been playing piano for over 30 years now, and teaching for 21 years. I have a great deal of experience helping countless numbers of students explore and cultivate their creativity and musical expression through piano playing and composition.
To help speed up the progress of my students I also offer the option of tailored lesson videos for home practise. You can see lesson video examples on my website which is
I travel to conduct lessons in the eastern suburbs, inner city, inner west and inner north areas of Sydney.
