Since I was a young child, I have always loved music. I even have home videos of me loudly singing the words which I assumed were written in my birthday cards as a toddler. When I reached year 6, I was inspired by my musical friends to start learning guitar. It quickly became my obsession. Almost instantly I fell in love with playing blues music. Classic and contemporary rock also drew me in.
I have also developed many unique skills by playing and leading in the worship bands of the various churches I have been a part of over the years.
When I began to teach guitar to various friends, I realised that playing an instrument and teaching an instrument are very different skills indeed! However I have always enjoyed sharing knowledge with people and I was determined to become a great guitar teacher. I have discovered that the key to success is a desire for your students to succeed, and a lot of patience to get them there!
I now have 9 years of playing experience and 3 years of teaching experience and have spent a lot of time working with children, youth and adults. I have a Working With Children Check and am also currently studying the third year of my Bachelor of Primary Education at ACU. This has given me even more tools and techniques to improve my guitar tuition.
Above all, I aim to share the joy that being able to play and understand music can bring. It truly is a blessing!
