Rachel Shindang

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel, an I am an experienced piano teacher based in Point Cook, Victoria. I am currently studying with Maestro Glenn Riddle at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music after graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, and I am incredibly passionate about guiding my students find joy in music whilst helping them achieve their goals and bring out their full potential.

A bit about myself - I successfully completed my AMusA (2017) and LMusA (2019), and I have been awarded significant prizes including the Royal South Street Margaret Schofield Chopin prize, the Melbourne Recital Centre Great Romantics Anne Kantor Award, and the VMTA Kault Prize, as well as 1st prizes in the Boroondara Concerto Award, the Scotch College Piano Competition and the VCASS Outstanding Soloists Award. In 2023, I was awarded the MCM Katherine Ellis Memorial Scholarship. I am also an experienced concerto soloist, and have performed concertos by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Chopin with the Preston Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Orchestra.

I have been teaching for about 5 years, and throughout my teaching experience I have successfully helped my students prepare for their AMEB examinations and scholarship entrance exams. I help my students with the maximum support I can give by writing them dot-point notes on the content we covered during our lesson, and providing them with recordings if needed to maximise the student's understanding of the music.

Finishing VCE Music Investigation with a study score of 50 (maximum mark), I am also offering lessons to VCE-level students.

I am teaching at home, and the students will be able to play on a beautiful Yamaha Grand Piano during all lessons which would be an wonderful opportunity to adapt to Pianos in performance or exam settings.
