Reuben Lewis is an ANU School of Music graduate (Bachelor of Jazz performance & Honours in composition). He has tutored students of all ages and skill levels at Alfred Deakin High School, Campbell High School, Burgmann Anglican School, Brindabella Christian College, for the Young Music Society and privately at his own home.
Reuben is also an active performer and has played alongside some of Australia and Europe’s finest musicians at various venues and internationally renowned festivals in Australia, Germany, Sweden, Poland and France (Such as the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Canberra International Music Festival, Sowieso (Berlin), 505, Woodford Folk Festival and Womadelaide World Music Festival).
He has released two albums of original music under his own name, composed and recorded for short film, classical ensembles, pop/reggae/folk/alternative bands and jazz/experimental/improvising ensembles ranging from solo to big band. He has been commissioned to compose educational work material for schools (Such as the “Young Music Society Jazz Book: 10 original jazz compositions for small/large ensembles for beginner to advanced improvisers”) and selected compositions have been published in the “Australian Jazz Real Book” (a Jazz standards book comprising of compositions by famous Australian Jazz composers from the past 80 years).
