Drum lessons in Fairfield

I‘m passionate about communicating music knowledge effectively and helping you understand the fundamentals of drums and rhythm. Exploring music can be really exciting, if also a bit overwhelming – so I try and bring excitement/curiosity into my teaching and make sure you always enjoy the learning process!

I have recently completed an Advanced Diploma of Music Performance, after 15 years of playing drums and guitar in bands, jamming with friends and writing and recording my own music. What we cover in lessons is individually tailored to your needs, at a pace and level that’s suitable for you.

I have worked with children for 10 years, both in after-school care and outdoor adventures. I have a lot of experience helping kids engage meaningfully with whatever they’re learning, by focusing on their specific interests to build their confidence. Also have a Working With Children’s Check.

Focus areas:

•   Basic exercises to help you internalize rhythmic patterns

• Understanding the role of each component of the drum kit
• Isolating limbs and co-ordination
• Keeping control of tight/intricate grooves
• Jamming practice, playing together, and responding sensitively to other musicians
• Establishing focused practice routines so you can grow your skills quickly
