Rodger Graham-Wilson is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music-Griffith University having studied Clarinet with Ruth Bonetti and Paul Dean and Voice with Hilary Jones. During this time, he won the Brisbane Eisteddfod Bicentennial Woodwind Championship in 1988, and the Queensland Eisteddfod Concerto Competition in 1992. Rodger has toured with various Symphonic Bands both within Australia and the Western Coast of the USA and also toured Japan with the Queensland Conservatorium Chamber Singers.
Rodger has performed in the orchestra pit for more than 40 musical theatre productions working for Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir, Ipswich Orpheus Chorale, Savoyards Musical Comedy Society, Ignatians Musical Society, Blue Fish Theatrical, Smash Theatrical, Underground Productions and Brisbane Arts Theatre. He has been Musical Director for productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Return to the Forbidden Planet, 42nd Street and Seussical: The Musical and Director for productions of Seussical: The Musical, Les Misérables (School Edition), Grease, and Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (School Edition). Rodger has held the position of Principal Clarinet for Brisbane Sinfonia and was the Principal Clarinet and Woodwind Coordinator for the Ipswich City Orchestra.
Rodger was also an enthusiastic member of the Queensland Clarinet and Saxophone Society for almost 20 years. He held the positions of Treasurer and Secretary, assisting in the delivery of three successful Australasian Clarinet and Saxophone Conferences held in Brisbane in 1991, 1997 and 2002.
Rodger has taught Clarinet and Saxophone at various private schools throughout South-East Queensland for 25 years, including Ipswich Grammar School, Somerset College, Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, Anglican Church Grammar School, Forest Lake College, The Springfield College, and was most recently the Instrumental and Vocal Music Coordinator at St Rita’s College, Clayfield. He is an experienced adjudicator having adjudicated at the Somerset Festival for Young Performers, Endeavour Foundation (Gold Coast) Talent Quest, and the City of Toowoomba Eisteddfod.
Now residing in Sydney, Rodger is Clarinet and Saxophone Tutor at Meriden – An Anglican School for Girls and St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill.
