I am a Western classically-trained tuba player experienced in performing in solo, chamber and large ensemble settings. My knowledge of repertoire extends from early music to experimental, contemporary compositions.
I have experience performing in a multitude of contexts across several musical genres. Within the Western classical stream, I have experience in orchestral, wind band and British brass band (both Eb and BBb bass) playing. Outside of the Western classical sphere, I am experienced in the Klezmer (Eastern European Jewish wedding music) and Balkan trubači idioms.
In addition to the tuba and its auxiliary counterparts, I also teach baritone horn and euphonium. Music theory only lessons available on demand. All lessons offered from home studio (VIC 3020).
When not playing low brass, I am an ethnomusicologist and practitioner of several genres of Indonesian music (Central Javanese gamelan specialist). If you are looking for a gamelan tutor, workshop leader or general consultant, please get in touch to discuss further.
I look forward to hearing from you.
