I am a graduate of the School of Music UWA (performance, flute) who has been teaching privately and in schools since 2009. I am also an active performer and participant in Perth’s Classical Music scene. I believe in the importance of nurturing a love for music in all students, and in helping every student develop their technique and musicianship.
I give individual lessons for both beginner and intermediate flute players, and focus on the classical tradition and on contemporary music. I also provide Theory and Aural tuition. I believe that in playing music the central goal is to develop an artistic understanding of music, which is supported by technical training and consistent practice. I try to nurture a love of music and of the flute whilst helping my students become the best musicians they can be!
Many of my students have been successful in winning music scholarships at Perth Modern SHS, John Curtin College, and Rossmoyne SHS, as well as places in the government SIMS Gifted and Talented programs. I encourage my students to perform regularly in local Eistedfods and competitions, and to work towards AMEB exams. I also help my students find ensembles of an appropriate level for them to perform in (such as the WAYMA flute choir and orchestras) to develop their musical skills.
I teach from my home in Kardinya (WA) (I also travel within the local area) and lessons normally run on a weekly basis and last between 30 and 60 minutes (at a rate of $60/hour). I hold a current working with children check. If you would like to contact me about arranging flute or music theory lessons, or if you have more general questions about studying music I am more than happy to help. You can contact me on 0401 721 214 or by email.
