Saffron’s formal training in music and education has depth and breadth. She graduated from the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Graduate Diploma of Education in Music and Media with final marks in the top 15% of ECU students. Gaining tuition from acclaimed jazz vocalists Victoria Newton, Libby Hammer and Penny King helped Saffron develop her vocal technique from her childhood training in musical theatre to the experienced performer she is today.
Saffron has 10 years experience in teaching vocal technique, choir leading and arranging, performance skills and music theory/aural training. Her passion for encouraging and developing musicians from pre-teens to adult grew into developing a career in classroom music education in WA schools.
As a performer Saffron has played alongside some of the best of her craft in Australia (Vince Jones, James Morrison, Gian Slater, Katie Noonan and Jamie Oehlers). This has seen Saffron grow into an experienced and creatively independent Jazz singer.
Saffron has performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival outdoors in Federation Square, which led to gaining the support slot for acclaimed Australian Jazz singer Vince Jones at the Perth International Jazz Festival. Saffron has also performed in New York City while studying Free Jazz at New York University.
Many reputable venues have regularly invited Saffron to there stage including Crown Casino’s Lobby Lounge, Grand Ball Room, Astral Ball Room and Allure Bar, The Ellington Jazz Club, The Terrace Hotel, The Cottesloe Hotel and many more.
