Samuel Choi is seventeen years old, and graduated from grade 12. He started playing piano at the age of 10. With the help of Dr Therese Milanovic, Samuel quickly reached AmusA level in his first year of piano while later received a distinction for his Lmus exam in 2016. At St Peter's Lutheran College, under a music scholarship, Samuel has been a finalist in the St Peter's Concerto Performance of the Year in 2015, a winner in 2016, and the winner for the St Peter's Recital Competition in 2013 and 2014. He has also been awarded first place in multiple Brisbane Piano and Instrumental Eisteddfods and has received a first place award in past Queensland Piano competitions. Samuel has helped raise funds for the children in North Korea through a concert and has been a special guest in the Asian Pacific Mayor’s Conference. This year, with the help of Natasha Vlassenko, Samuel placed first in the Chopin Queensland Piano Competition and is now competing in the final round for the 4MBS Virtuoso Competition and the Queensland Piano Competition. As it was his last year of high school, he is looking forward to continuing his studies and performances in piano by auditioning at a few universities such as the Griffith Conservatorium, The University of Queensland Music and Curtis Institute of Music.
