Mixed-instrument groups. Students learn as they play jazz in a real band. Lessons include instruction in how to improvise and how to play jazz in a small band (aka 'combo').
This works very well in conjunction with pivate lessons or improvisation coaching. It can also be a stand-alone. For instance, if you already have a good classical teacher on your instrument, you can learn jazz by doing these group lessons.
The groups work through a program I have designed. It is enjoyable, it build confidence and skill, and it works.
I have groups suitable for beginners, intermediate students, advanced school-aged students, young adults/uni students, inexperienced adults, and experienced adults. Pretty well all instruments are welcome, space permitting (ie usually only 1x bassist and drummer/band, and max group size is about 8 people).
You can join any time. Rehearsals are in my studio at The Jazz Workshop in St Leonards.
