Sean van Doornum - Biography
Sean began playing the guitar at the age of 8. Traditionally trained in Classical guitar by his grandfather Edward van Doornum, who was Concert Master for the Symphony Orchestra of De Haag, Sean also learnt Jazz/Blues and Rock styles of Guitar. Whilst at high school Sean completed his AMEB Classical Guitar exams up to level 8. Shortly after High School Sean undertook a Bachelor of Composition Degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music graduating in 2007. During his time at the Conservatorium Sean taught Guitar and Singing at Neautral Bay Public and privately. He also performed in and composed for the Conservatorium Chamber Choir. Since then Sean has been working as a session performer/composer for several music and film production companies as well as continuing to teach Guitar, Voice Theory and Musicianship. In 2009 Sean made his way over to New York for 6 months were he performed with his band EUSH and as a session musician with other New York based bands. Sean teaches most styles of Guitar and voice. With years of experience a both a performer and teacher. Sean tries to make lessons enjoyable whilst making his students stronger musicians by focusing on technique and general musicianship.
