In flute lessons, I will work with the students on building the foundations of their technique using strategic exercises and methods which will enhance their understanding of the flute as an instrument. Further to this, I will use repertoire, based on AMEB exams and or VCE/Tertiary recitals that may be coming up, to introduce students to a wide variety of musical styles and possibilities. Aside from the main rep, I will be including exterior methods such as interpretation, ornamentation, analytical skills, and music theory; all of which will help to better their musicianship, confidence and understanding of the instrument. I also do a lot of work with extended techniques and contemporary music, giving students exposure to music of the here and now.
I will always be honest with my students and supply them with weekly feedback, including a journal entry to track progress. I am dedicated to making your student not only a good flute player but a good all-rounded musician who will feel confident pursuing music as a career/hobby/passion.
Even if you're just looking for someone to play to before an audition or a short masterclass on a particular work/extended technique, please feel free to come and see me.
