Shane Campbell

Hi, my name is Shane.

I have a strong background in music education and performance, and a passion for fostering a positive learning environment. I am confident that I would be the perfect teacher for you or your child, and can use my skills, experience, and personality to achieve any musical goals.

My commitment to music and music education is complemented by a solid educational background, and relevant qualifications and experience.

I have a degree with Honours in classical guitar performance from the Australian National University School of Music and have been teaching guitar within schools, and at the ANU Open School of Music for the past four years. I specialise in classical and fingerstyle technique, repertoire, and theory, and have experience teaching popular music, jazz, blues, rock, and assisting students with composition and song-writing. I have also taught and conducted chamber ensembles including guitar duos, trios, and quartets. I have experience preparing students for AMEB exams.

I have taught one-on-one lessons with beginners as young as eight to college students preparing for entrance exams for music school. Given this range of age and ability, I have developed a teaching style that meets individual students’ needs by being flexible and adaptive. I have taught in group settings as an instructor at the ANU Open School of Music and am constantly tailoring students’ learning experiences for them to achieve their potential and musical goals. I am cognisant of my students’ individual learning goals and abilities and can relate to and engage with students through a variety of musical styles.

An avid performer, I have given solo and chamber concerts across Australia and New Zealand, and most recently performed a solo recital at the Mossman Art Gallery for the Sydney Classical Guitar Society. My performance experience as well as my teaching practice have allowed me to develop the strong communication skills, organisational abilities, and high-level musicianship that that is essential of an effective instrumental teacher

I have a valid Working With Children Check, active ABN, and public liability insurance.
