Sharmila is a teacher and performer based in Melbourne. Currently studying her Masters in Music (Performance Teaching) on the flute at the Conservatorium of Music (Melbourne Uni), Sharmila graduated from WAAPA in 2008, before moving on to study her Graduate Diploma of Education at Monash. Sharmila is an accredited Suzuki Trainee on flute.
With over ten years of teaching & performing experience both privately and in primary and high schools across Melbourne and Perth, Sharmila loves helping her students to be the best all-round musician that they can be while catering to each student’s individual learning needs and interests.
As well as undergoing her Masters in Music and teaching the flute and violin, Sharmila is a freelance flautist and violinist, performing regularly across Melbourne in various bands (namely in the world music quartet Huanchaco) along with some guest appearances in various other groups. She has toured with Huanchaco across Australia, Chile & New Zealand. She is also a member of the MSO chorus.
