Online and face to face lessons available. Sharon teaches in person, and on Zoom. She specialises in KeyNotes Group lessons, where each song has multiple extension challenges. This means everyone in the group has something that’s a perfect fit to play. These classes are beautifully suited to beginner students.
Keynotes is underpinned by sound teaching pedagogy. It’s written by Melanie Bowes,(MA Music Education, PhD candidate). The program is delivered internationally, continues to be developed. It's designed for 4-11 year olds.
Sharon also teaches private lessons to a limited number of students.
She loves the joy of guiding newcomers to help them love music, and is a kind and encouraging teacher, and is also a professional pianist.
In her 30 year live career, Sharon has played with and supported some of the finest musicians from Australia and overseas, most notably Australian Idol star Emily Williams, ARIA Award-winning, platinum selling singer Kate Ceberano and Grammy Award-winning American trumpeter, composer, producer Maurice “Mobetta” Brown.
Sharon maintains a busy solo and band gig diary in and around Melbourne at venues such as Memo Hall, The Spiegeltent, The Paris Cat, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Town Hall and Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
She also holds an Associate Diploma in Jazz Piano and degree in Arts Management from the WA Academy of Performing Arts.
Sharon is offering a limited number of students one on one piano lessons from her private, Steinway equipped Melbourne studio.
Sharon is a patient and encouraging teacher for all levels. Her practical experience as a working musician supports the development of students across performance, harmony, theory, playing music from written notes, chord symbols and by ear, improvisation, solo and ensemble performing.
