Sil Jin, Piano Teacher & Specialist in Gifted Learners

B Mus (Perf) - University of Sydney
M Music Therapy - University of Melbourne

Sil is an accomplished pianist and experienced teacher and therapist of 10 years of experience. Sil holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney and a Master in Music Therapy, equipped with both vigorous musical training and insight into emotional and cognitive development of children and adults.

With over ten years of teaching experience, Sil works particularly well with gifted, highly sensitive and/or twice-exceptional (2e) students - whose talents often come with intensity, asynchronous development or unconventional learning pathways.

Sil’s teaching isn’t about churning out As in exams - it’s about cultivating original minds through disciplined artistry and meaningful mentorship.

If your child is bright in their own way, intense/obsessive or simply ‘different’ in a way that typical music lessons can’t accommodate, they might find in Sil the rare kind of teacher who sees them - and knows exactly how to bring out their best.

In addition to teaching, Sil is a Registered Music Therapist and offers clinical music therapy sessions for children and adolescents with psychosocial disabilities, neurodivergence or developmental needs. Music therapy is a goal-oriented process that uses music to support non-musical outcomes - such as communication, emotional regulation, sensory integration or social skills. It can also provide a safe, expressive outlet for children who experience anxiety, trauma or identity-related challenges. Sil’s approach is relational, creative and highly attuned to the inner world of the child.
