I have been teaching for 10 years at some of Melbourne’s top music schools, specialising in acoustic, electric and bass guitar. I hold a Grade 8 guitar certificate, a Bachelor of Music Composition from Box Hill Institute and a Master of Teaching from the University of Melbourne. I am a registered teacher and currently teach guitar at several high schools around Melbourne.
Lessons cover fundamentals such as technique and music theory and have a strong focus on repertoire including styles such as contemporary music, rock, pop, jazz, blues, country, finger style and classical. Lessons can also cover composition, songwriting and improvisation, along with music technology, recording, producing and mixing. Please include your interests in your message.
I pride myself on being able to motivate students by keeping lessons fun, practical and challenging yet achievable and rewarding. Lessons are tailored to suit each student's needs and goals. If you are a complete beginner or unsure where to start, I have a program that will have you playing in no time.
I believe that needing ‘talent’ to play music is a myth and that commitment, practise, perseverance and a love of music go much further. Talent comes after.
All ages welcome. Skype/Zoom lessons available on request. $30 for half an hour, $50 for one hour. First lesson half price.
