Hello, my name is Souren Tchakerian and I am a professional drummer and percussionist with 35 years teaching and performing experience. I am happy to teach anyone with the desire to learn percussion as I believe anyone can learn music. I have studied at Box Hill TAFE for 1 year, ran workshops across the country and have lived and studied in countries such as Cuba and Brazil.

My service offers high quality and interactive lessons which will teach you the basis of percussion and drumming depending on your prior skill level, and create an engaging learning environment.

I predominantly teach instruments such as congas, bongos, cajon, timbales, batas and more which is all setup at my house in Ardeer (Near Sunshine).

For those willing to excel at a higher level, I am willing to showcase all aspects of my musical knowledge throughout my study help with whatever is requested.

I specialise in styles such as Afro cuban, Latin Jazz along with rhythms that correspond to these styles which include Mambo, Salsa, Songo, cha-cha-cha, guaguanco and many many more.

I have performed at numerous musical venues and events such as the Melbourne Jazz festival, WOMAD Festival, St Kilda Festival and the list goes on.

I am also willing to offer a FREE trial for those interested in learning to give a grasp of the learning environment and how the lesson will run overall.
