I am Stacey, the sole operator of Essell Music. I’m a Masters research student at the University of Melbourne, Australia, studying a beautiful piece called Canto Ostinato by Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt. Before this, I completed my Honours thesis on Johannes Brahms’s Intermezzo in A Major, Op. 118 No. 2, analysing recordings of the piece. (You may know it – if not, there are plenty of performances on Youtube!)
Essell Music began in September 2012 as a break from traditional methods of music teaching. I encourage my students from the outset to think outside the box, to direct their own learning, and to cultivate curiosity and experimentation, not just in their music endeavours, but also in whatever else they pursue in their lives.
