I am a piano teacher who is keen to teach students from the age of 4 to adults. I have been playing the piano for 15 years and I have obtained my Bachelor's of Music degree (specializing in piano performance) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne.
I have performed in many concerts and won several awards from varies Eisteddfod's in Melbourne, including the 2019 YMF Senior Pianoforte Scholarship Encouragement award and the Romantic/Post Romantic Era piano solo 3rd prize.
I'm currently studying Masters of Teaching (Secondary), specializing in classroom and instrumental music teaching at the University of Melbourne. I have taught classroom music from year 7 to 12 at a wide range of schools and I have got a lot of experience working with diverse range of students, from special needs, different linguistic backgrounds and year levels. I also have a lot of experience teaching VCE music performance (both instrumental and classroom).
I have got 6 years of piano teaching experience and I have obtained High Distinctions from studying the 'Art of Piano Teaching' subject as well as a school based tutoring subject at Melbourne University.
I'm very experienced in teaching and preparing students for AMEB exams as well as concerts and auditions with many students receiving an A (Honours) or A+ (High Distinction) for their exams.
I encourage students to explore all music genres and styles. Ranging from John Thompson, Alfred, Ada Ritcher piano course to AMEB exams and classical pieces, all students are welcome and I will adapt my teaching style to suit individual student needs. I believe technical foundation is very important to piano playing hence I've got a range of books e.g. Hanon, Czerny and pieces for technical development.
I also have a lot of experience working with children and I have got a working with children check.
I am also able to teach music theory and have accompanied students on many other instruments for a variety of concerts and AMEB exams.
I am fluent in both English and Chinese so I am happy to teach in both languages.
