Stephen Byth

  • AMEB 8th Grade (Classical Clarinet)
  • B.Mus (Monash University)

I am a jazz saxophonist/clarinettist that holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Monash University after receiving the university's Jazz Scholarship for undergraduate students. I perform regularly around Melbourne and have had the opportunity to play with some of Australia's finest musicians including Barney McAll, Tony Gould and Aaron Choulai. In 2015 I was selected as a finalist for the Generations in Jazz James Morrison Instrumental Scholarship . I have learnt and am still learning from many amazing teachers myself, and I hope to pass on the knowledge that I have acquired to others. I am also willing to travel in the local area for lessons.
I offer lessons in many styles of saxophone and clarinet playing and can help students prepare for AMEB and VCE music exams, but I specialise in jazz improvisation.
I can teach all saxophones (soprano through to baritone), clarinet, beginner flute and jazz theory.
