I am a qualified instrumental and classroom music teacher with over 10 years teaching experience. I have a background in classical music but also experience in many styles of music, from jazz, folk, world and contemporary.
I have studied music performance to a post-graduate level at the QLD Conservatorium, University of QLD and Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, and a Grad. Dip of Education majoring in music at ACU.
In Melbourne I have taught primary music classes at Caulfield Grammar and instrumental music at Ivanhoe Grammar and various music schools.
I love working with children of all ages, and have an enthusiastic and encouraging teaching manner that inspires my students. I always aim to make lessons engaging and stimulating, with an emphasis on good technique and understanding of music theory and improvisation, and for younger students, games, movement and songs.
I also enjoy teaching mature aged students – it’s never too late to start!
As every student is unique, I tailor each lesson to suit each students’ learning style and musical preferences. I write and record music, and use music technology programs to enhance lessons. I strongly believe in music as a vehicle for creativity and self-expression, as well as a medium for improving children’s cognitive development.
I look forward to meeting and hearing you!
