I am a qualified instrumental music teacher with over 10 years teaching experience in both secondary and high schools as well as in private music studios.I have a background in classical music but also experience in many styles of music, from jazz, folk, world and contemporary. I have prepared students for AMEB and VCE examinations, as well as performances and auditions.
I have a Bachelor of Music for the QLD Conservatorium, a Post Graduate Diploma of Music from the University of QLD, and a Graduate Diploma of Education majoring in music at Australian Catholic University.
I’ve been performing as a professional vocalist for over 15 years. I have recorded 2 albums and performed many gigs and festivals. I use recording programs such as Logic and Pro Tools. I also teach arranging, jazz harmony and music theory to enhance song-writing.
I love working with students of all ages, and have an enthusiastic and encouraging teaching manner that inspires my students. I always aim to make lessons engaging and fun, with an emphasis on a healthy vocal technique and understanding of music theory and improvisation. I have completed many courses in Estill Voice Training and draw from this understanding of anatomy and voice production to inform my teaching.
I have full VIT registration (Victorian Institute of Teaching) that ensures I Working with Children checks as well as continual professional development.
I also enjoy teaching mature aged students – it’s never too late to start!
As every student is unique, I tailor each lesson to suit each students’ learning style and musical preferences.
I look forward to meeting and hearing you!
