Piano lessons

Hello, and thank you for visiting this ad! My name is Sy Dyson :)

A bit about myself , I am a classically trained pianist now specialising in playing and composing jazz and contemporary piano both solo and for artists of varying styles. I completed my 8th Grade AMEB accreditation in classical piano when I was 18 and since then I have been teaching students of wide ranging abilities all different styles. I have moved back to the mountains from Sydney, and now play solo piano regularly at venues such as the Avalon, Lillienfels, Carrington Hotel, and more.
I am offering lessons in a beautiful piano room in my house on Cascade st Katoomba, able to access from the front via a wrap around veranda.

I can teach you or your child :
-How to play with proper technique and posture, so you can play beautifully and comfortably
-How to read music and develop your ear training, so you can learn a variety of music, and be able to learn how to teach yourself whatever piece of music you like
-Develop skills to play solo or as part of an ensemble/band, in all styles, useful for high school students, and those interested in playing with other musicians
-Learn to arrange, compose, and improvise on the piano so you can start expressing yourself creatively

My lessons are suitable for people of all ages. I've taught people from 4, to 40 years old! (I haven't thus far taught anyone older than 40, so if that's you than I would love to teach you!). Would be very happy to teach mature age students as I believe music is a gift worth learning at any age. Piano as well is very good instrument to learn as you get older as it puts very little stress on the body if played with correct technique.

Expressing oneself creatively is very important to me and I hope to share this gift with others especially young people as it is a great skill to have that will stay with you forever.
Piano is an amazing instrument to start learn how to engage with music, I can of course teach how to play proficiently with great technique, but my goal is to teach one how to play and develop a relationship with music and creativity in general using piano as a vehicle to do so.

I am also able to travel to your residence for 45 and 60 minute lessons, and do incur an extra $20 to account for costs of travel and time. I also am able to teach online over zoom.
