Michelle has been teaching both violin and music theory for over 8 years and is passionate about helping students grow, understand and love music. Michelle’s violin students have been awarded with consistently high results in AMEB Examinations (95% of students achieve A+ or A). Many of her students have successfully attained 100% music scholarships for entries to a number of private schools in Sydney (including Santa Sabina, Scots, Trinity Grammar etc) and are receiving excellence in music awards at both public and private schools (MLC, Santa Sabina, Meriden etc).
Michelle is experienced with students with ages ranging from youngest enrolments of 4 years of age to intermediate and advanced students that are preparing for auditions, eisteddfods, AMEB exams. Violin lessons for adults are also offered upon request. Michelle violin lessons focus on individual goals, musical intepretation, enjoyment and musical independence.
Michelle holds concerts at local venues regularly for students to perform. She also takes the time to organise junior and senior duets, quartets and small ensembles for her students to experience making music together.
Michelle was born in Sydney, Australia and
began learning the violin at the young age of
4 years old with a local Suzuki educator, the late Mrs Cathy Lee. Since age 6,
she began competing annually at local
eisteddfods across Sydney under the
teaching guidance of Mr Shuqi Mou. At age
11, she was granted entrance to the Sydney Conservatorium
High School of Music and studied with AMEB violin examiner, Mrs Elisabeth Mitchelmore for six years during her time there. Michelle’s postgraduate violin teaching studies were continued with highly sought mentor and AMEB examiner, Mrs Kathryn Phillips. Michelle is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of NSW.
