Beginning violin at the tender age of five, Natasha always had her heart set on a career in music. Her passion for performing goes beyond boundaries and stereotypes, encompassing Baroque and Classical to Jazz and Celtic, and everything in between.
She is constantly challenging herself to explore new ways of approaching performance, bending the rules and blurring the lines between the classical and contemporary musical worlds. Achieving her A.MusA Diploma on violin at a young age, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Natasha has built a career performing in orchestras and ensembles on stages ranging from the Melbourne Recital Centre and Hamer Hall to the Paris Cat Jazz Club, while featuring as a guest violinist at the Melba Spiegeltent, Max Watts, The Glasshouse and countless other stages across Europe and the UK on multiple international tours. Her violin playing has featured on internationally released studio albums and on an award-winning film soundtrack. In addition, Natasha is in demand as a violin and viola teacher, being recognised by the success of her students with her innovative and forward-thinking approach to playing and teaching.
2019 saw Natasha return to university to further develop and explore her craft, studying Honours in Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium under the guidance of renowned teacher, performer and former MSO concertmaster, Wilma Smith, as well as studying Baroque Violin and Historical Performance with Rachael Beesley. This opened her eyes to a whole new world of violin playing, having gravitated naturally towards the creativity, freedom, the new and interesting timbres of the baroque violin as an instrument of profound expression, which led her to performing in masterclasses with the likes of Stanley Ritchie and Julia Fredersdorff, and at the Hobart Town Hall with Van Diemen’s Band. Having successfully graduated with First Class Honours, life soon brought her to the little seaside town of Port Macquarie where she now resides.
Natasha is thrilled to be able to share her passions with students in her small regional community and cultivate the cultural scene, whilst recent adaptations in technology enable her to mentor students from all over the country in an innovative new way. This expertise is backed up by over a decade of experience running a successful private studio and string programs at several leading Melbourne schools. She is currently the violin teacher at the Port Macquarie Steiner School and is a violin and viola tutor at St Columba Anglican College. She is also a committee member of the NSW chapter of AUSTA and holds a current WWCC.
