I am passionate about music - it has the power to change our lives and to change our world! Learning and playing music is a great adventure. There is so much to discover and delight in, so come and experience it for yourself!
I have a Bachelor of Music, (Classical Piano- Performance and Pedagogy), and a Masters of Music Therapy, and have spent much additional time developing my teaching and therapeutic skills.
Music has always been part of my life. I have had the joy of formally teaching students for over 8 years, and recently became a Registered Music Therapist so I could support people to include music in their wellness journeys.
NDIS participants can access music therapy to support a range of goals, including social skills, fine and gross motor skills, self-regulation, community participation, wellbeing and more!
I have studied a number of educational approaches, including Suzuki, Kodaly and E. Gordon's Music Learning Theory. From this, I have learned the highly effective sound-before-symbol approach, where we learn music in the same order that we learn language:Listen, move, chant, sing, play, create and improvise, read, write.
This is a natural, engaging and very enjoyable process!
Small group lessons work best for children aged 4-10, as we can have lots of fun playing musical games, improvising, and playing music together. Learning to share ideas and play with others is a powerful skill to learn early on in our adventure!
Contact me to book an obligation-free, trial lesson where we can discuss your personal strengths, needs and goals.
Come and enjoy our safe music-making space in a convenient location, North-East of the city!
