My teaching style is student-centred; your goals, interests and learning style are always at the front of my mind. You will learn theory as well as practical skills in an integrated, embodied way. You will be encouraged to explore your creativity and self-expression, and to take risks at the piano.
If you want to learn how to read music and play songs and pieces - I have a big sheet music collection and can recommend books for you to purchase, as well as help you navigate all the free online resources available.
If you don't want or need to learn how to read music notation - great! You will learn how to play from the 'bottom up', using your body and your senses to find your way at the piano. You will still learn music theory and develop a deep understanding of how music works - all without reading notation.
Location
Lessons are given in either my Bayswater studio (where I have a Yamaha C5 Conservatory Grand) or my home in Fremantle (where I have a Yamaha U1 Upright). Please note that I do not travel to students.
