Tim Byrne completed his Master's Music Performance Degree at the University of Queensland in 2010. During this time, he was awarded his AMEB Licentiate Diploma of Music Australia, a University Medal, and a number of prestigious scholarships to perform and study at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, USA.
Tim currently performs and tours regularly with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and has worked in both tutti and acting associate principal roles. Tim has also performed with various other professional ensembles throughout QLD, including the QLD Pops and Festival Philharmonic Orchestras "Camerata of St. John's," "Southern Cross Soloists," and in Australia's foremost musical theatre productions. He was principal cellist in recent QPAC seasons of "Aladdin," "Matilda," "The Lion King," "Les Miserables," and "Sound of Music."
Tim has many years of experience teaching and performing in both Australia and overseas. He has been teaching privately for ten years, and also has significant experience tutoring orchestral and chamber ensembles at various schools, universities, and for the Queensland Youth Orchestras. Tim has a broad knowledge of the cello repertoire and is always excited to help out with any new cello project that a student may wish to undertake.
Tim's current students span across all age groups, including primary, secondary, tertiary, and adult students. All ability levels are welcome.
