Tom Duck studied classical clarinet at the University of Melbourne with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra clarinettist, Craig Hill, before pursuing his interest in jazz. In 2008 he graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts – Edith Cowan University (WAAPA) with Honours in jazz performance in saxophone and clarinet. At WAAPA Tom studied with world renowned saxophonists, Jamie Oehlers and George Garzone. He won the Brett Lockyer jazz clarinet scholarship for most outstanding jazz clarinettist.

Tom was awarded the Diploma, Associate in Music Australia (AMusA) of the Australian Music Examinations Board, in clarinet with Distinction (2003). He has also been recognised as an outstanding young woodwind performer by the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Victoria, and has been a recipient of the Geelong Music Society's scholarship for students of woodwind instruments.

As a member of the West Australian Youth Orchestra, Tom performed with some of Australia's leading musicians, including James Morrison, Joe Chindamo, Kate Ceberano and Daryl Somers.

After teaching experience in Perth, which included Methodist Ladies College, Tom currently teaches at Camberwell Anglican Girls Grammar. His extensive knowledge of both classical and jazz styles allows him to cater for students with different interests and experience. Tom approaches teaching with enthusiasm and a passion to impart his love of music to all his students.
