Tony is a qualified high school music teacher. He has also been teaching the piano for over 20 years.
Tony has been playing the piano and singing since the age of 14, proving that you’re never too old to start learning. A natural piano/vocalist, he completed his first Diploma of Music Performance (Jazz/Popular) from the Northern Melbourne Institute of Tafe (VIC) in 1998. After working for many years as a teacher both privately and in various schools in Hobart and Melbourne, he returned to complete an Associate Degree in Music Studies from the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Tasmania (TAS) in 2006.
In 2017, he completed a Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts from the Australian Catholic University (ACT).
Tony has over 20 years’ experience teaching private piano to students of all ages. He truly enjoys teaching, with his speciality being the complete beginner. It doesn’t matter the age of the student, Tony breaks down music to its basics and makes everyone feel at ease. Having studied the language of music for so long, Tony feels that he understands the traps & pitfalls that beginner players often fall into and encourages his students accordingly so that they not only learn to love playing but that they feel a real sense of confidence to tackle music all on their own.
Please note, due to Covid-19, all lessons are now run through Skype. Though the piano studio is based in Calwell, lessons can now be tailored for anyone within the ACT.
