Val Suraev

Bachelor of Performance (Cello) graduate from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where I studied under Julian Smiles.

As a casual and contract cellist with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, I have frequently served as guest principal cellist across various productions. I have also contributed to a wide range of professional recordings at Fox Studios, including soundtracks for Lego Batman, Mortal Kombat, Blizzard Entertainment, Netflix, and many other notable projects.

A multiple competition winner in Sydney, I have participated in masterclasses with world-renowned cellists such as Natalie Clein, Richard Narroway, Pieter Wispelwey, and Gavriel Lipkind, continuously refining my craft. My performance experience includes numerous high-level recitals, and I continue to perform at an advanced level while offering extensive teaching expertise.

LIMITED AVAILABILITY

In my teaching, I incorporate modern techniques and insights gained from Australia's leading cellists. I am currently accepting students for music theory and HSC music preparation, though please note that I am not available for beginner cello students at this time due to limited availability.
