Vanessa's Singing Studio

My name is Vanessa Strydom and I am a Brisbane-based Soprano who has completed a Bachelor of Music Majoring in Performance - Classical Voice (with first class honours) and is currently studying a PhD in Musicology. I am an enthusiastic and passionate musician and academic who is interested in sharing my passion and helping students achieve their goals and aspirations.

As a vocalist, I am able to give vocal lessons to people of all ages - whether you are interested in completing exams, performing in eisteddfods, preparing for auditions or just love singing. I have a deep understanding of the technical and musical aspects of singing due to my extensive training. I also have a love of many styles (classical, musical theatre, jazz, popular/rock, contemporary, alternative).

I also offer music theory and aural musicianship tutoring and lessons. I have a comprehensive understanding of music theory and have had over two years of professional aural training.

I have an in depth understanding of the structures and principals of music history, as I continue to study them it at a tertiary level. I can easily assist in assignments and exams and am happy to proofread any material.

Experience:
I have four years experience in tutoring History and over six years experience in conducting Vocal, Music Theory, Musicianship and aural skills Lessons. I create an interactive learning environment tailoring each session to suit every students needs.

I am an experienced performer who regularly performs in competitions and events across Queensland. I have won The University of Queensland Vocal Prize, The Beenleigh Eisteddfod Vocal Bursary as well as many other categories in eisteddfods across Brisbane. I have also performed as a soloist in front of thousands at the QPAC Concert Hall and with various orchestras.
