A modern teacher who emphasises improvisation, song writing, theory and musical exploration.
My main goal as a piano teacher is for my students to be excited and engaged in my lessons, all the while growing steadily as a pianist and a musician. This is why I personally believe in a contemporary approach to piano pedagogy. I consider the abilities of improvisation, song writing, music theory, general musical knowledge, and production to all be cornerstones of a successful modern day musician.
I have experience working with DAW’s such as Ableton and Logic, as well as writing songs in genres such as jazz, pop and hip hop. I am well versed in harmony, stylistic genres and music history. By instilling these aspects of music into students, as well as many others, I want to inspire and motivate children and adults alike to become independent and creative pianists and musicians.
If you are looking for a teacher who specialises in AMEB and ABRSM examinations, or traditional classical repertoire, I would recommend you to one of our other incredibly talented teachers at Vincent Music.
However, if you want to learn how to play and understand your favourite pop songs, improvise freely on the spot, or have a deeper understanding how music functions, I would love to have you in for a free trial lesson and talk further with you!
