I am a 21 year old currently studying BmusA at The University of Melbourne Conservatorium, going into a performance major.
Having been thrust through the cogs of classical music for 16 years now, my love for it only deepens as I continue, and I'd thoroughly enjoy sharing my experience amongst students! My style is mostly pertaining to the Russian violin school- which has produced masters such as Oistrakh and Vengerov.
I have coached pupils through their Amusa/Lmusa recitals and I have taught as a music teacher at http://universalschoolofmusic.com.au/
I also taught at Box Hill Music for a semester.
Tutelage under several teachers such as Gao Yi, Peter Wang, Wenxun Chen, Andan Zhong and Mark Mogilevski (My current teacher) has instilled a disciplined technical framework in my playing and several methods of interpretation which I look forward to sharing.
Having completed my LmusA in 2012, I am comfortable in preparing students for the realities of exams and performances (specifically in regards to performance pressure tips). After participating in various chamber ensembles and leading orchestras (MGS and ANGO) in various international locations (Paris, Japan, China, Germany, America), I am also able to coach people for orchestral auditions and chamber music.
My teaching aims to provide, first and foremost, an outlet for authentic self-expression, stabilised on technical stability. This will be facilitated through learning that's disciplined but fun, based on understanding the music and understanding WHY and WHAT you're practicing. Of course this includes: bow grip, posture, plucking, open string familiarity and different types of articulation, as well as intonation, scale work, and attaining a beautiful tone (no more avant-garde crackling sounds!)
Be it for leisure or for vocation, I will enable students to reach the highest level of proficiency that I can offer, for them to be able to play and more importantly, understand and enjoy the music they play.
Beginners are welcome, we'll both be learning together!
My latest completed repertory (within the past year) includes the entire Sibelius Concerto (performed with the MUBSO orchestra), Ysaye's Ballade, and the Brahms Violin concerto, so I am confidence in tackling demanding repertoire with more intermediate students also. (Up to an AmusA standard)
Recent personal highlights include travelling to America as the 1st violinists of the Banksia Quartet for the Mimir Festival, to South Korea as part of Melbourne University and to China as part of the Melbourne Opera. I am also very fortunate to have participated in masterclasses with the Takàsc Quartet, Noah Bendix Balgley, Oleh Krysa, and leading members of the Cleveland/Nashville/Houston and Chicago orchestras.
I am also happy to teach Music Theory, I finished grade 6 theory in 2013.
Classes in regards to time and regularity will have flexibility (centred around my academic commitments).
