Willow Stahlut has been playing music since she was given a guitar for her first birthday made by her luthier father. She took up the violin at the age of five and continued study on this gaining her AmusA with a distinction and a Bmus majoring in jazz and improvisation at the Victorian College of Arts.

Willow has performed on violin, mandolin, guitar and vocals all over the world and has spent time living and working in London and Europe both as a teacher and a performer. With her main project The Imprints she has performed worldwide at festivals including Glastonbury (UK), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (UK), Katuaq (Greenland), ArtsWells (Canada), Atmosphere (Canada), Falls Festival (Australia), Luminate (New Zealand) and Fusion Festival (Germany).

Willow has led orchestras and ensembles and has been part of over twenty bands. She has also worked as part of the string section behind pop bands (such as Goldfrapp and the Cinematic Orchestra) and recorded on many albums (including Blue King Brown, Adalita and Little Birdy).

After fifteen years in Melbourne, Willow and her partner relocated to the Byron Hinterland. Willow offers lessons in their home studio in Goonengerry, 15 minutes out of Mullumbimby and 30 minutes from Byron Bay and Lismore.

Willow has been teaching music to all ages since 2001. She accepts students of all skill levels and tutors in a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, gypsy, celtic, bluegrass and pop.

Willow has extensive experience taking students through the AMEB method and examinations with excellent results. She is also passionate about teaching improvisation and helping students to find freedom and creativity in their playing.
