I’m a current jazz guitar student at the Queensland Conservatorium, looking to take on some students! I have past, informal teaching experience with middle school children, and I firmly believe that all music education heavily relies on joy. If you, your child or your friend are looking to gain some technical knowledge of the guitar and instruction on how to play your favourite tunes, look no further! I specialise in jazz, but can teach any style outside of it within the contemporary umbrella.
My teaching method centres around joy in music - the only true way to learn and retain musical information is to enjoy it. I aim to educate on the practical application of theoretical concepts, teaching a range of skills and how to implement them. I personalise lessons to suit individual students' goals, aiming to help each student become a better, well rounded musician.
I currently play with José McLaughlin's ConFusion, Euphoria (jazz quartet), and Josh Correia & the Dysfunktionals. I teach from my flat in Milton, close to bus, train and city cat stops.
My career highlights include performing with Leo Sayer, James Morrison, the Black Sorrows, the Idea of North and Trichotomy, and graduating with an OP3 from St Peters Lutheran College and VH10s in Music & Music Extension.
My musical influences include: Chet Baker, Barney Kessel, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Led Zeppelin, Alt-J, Snarky Puppy, Funky Knuckles, The Kooks, Hosier, The Creases, The Jungle Giants, The Wombats, D’Angelo, John Mayer and countless more.
