I am a piano teacher and a music composer. I have been teaching piano from my air-conditioned studio in Kenmore since 2008. As a composer, I now have a published work by the Australian Music Centre and some others on sheetmusicplus.com. Many of my scores are great as teaching repertoire but they are also wonderful for leisure playing for all age groups.
I specialise in teaching primary school and high school age groups, but I also have experience teaching matured-age students.
I use a variety of teaching resources (including creating my own). For those aiming to sit piano exams, I use the AMEB syllabus such as the Comprehensive and Piano for Leisure syllabus. Many of my students have sat AMEB piano exams gaining Distinction results, but I also enjoy teaching ones who want to learn for self-pleasure without exams.
My goal is to instil a love of music for all my students via piano playing, and allowing them to experience music in different ways such as playing different styles, trying out ensembles and composing. I also teach music theory and harmonisation.
I have a classical piano training background with an 8th grade Distinction. I completed a music teaching diploma in 2019 (ATMusA, AMEB). I am also in the process of completing my Bachelor of Music degree with only a few units to go before I graduate. The knowledge I gained from my degree, such as music technology, have helped me build my music career immensely.
I am a professional member of the Queensland Music Teachers Association.
I am available to teach on a face-to-face basis or online using Zoom, FaceTime or Skype.
