Parent and Student testimonials:
Winston is an inspirational teacher! Whether he teaches Piano or Tap dancing he always has the student’s best interest at heart. My son started with Winston when he was in grade 3 and recently my son just finished his VCE music with a great result. Winston is patient and approachable with students. He is also very responsible towards his students. While Winston was in the process of moving up to Queensland, he made sure that my son was introduced to a reputable piano teacher to continue with his piano lessons. I am confident in recommending Winston as a piano teacher to any students who are interested in learning piano!!

Hello! This is Fenchii!

I’ve been one of Winston’s piano students for about 6months or so - after 7years of; to be honest; being traumatised from going back to piano lessons.

#truestory

I had a strict upbringing and piano was to be enforced into my weekly routine, not for pleasure; but for concentrated finger (and thumb) gymnastics, intended for cognitive upskill and discipline. The lessons were not guided by me; and were often based around technical exercises, and strangely, I did not feel, nor was I encouraged, to be musically connected to my pieces. The explanation I was given was that I must “walk before I run”.

I chose Winston to be my teacher, because I saw that he understood music (from attending his tap classes #ATDF); the life in music and rhythm.

I felt like he UNDERSTOOD me, through the lens of how I saw the piece and my artistic expressions.

In his lesson, he would demonstrate things like how your body posture, coupled with your breathing, the relaxing of your joints can help you to sing that music out of that piano - your way!

As you know, my previous teacher was very technical - Winston doesn’t lose out on that. He focusses on it, only when necessary, or anticipated. It’s good because this integrated approach gives you context. It’s all used to hone in on the emotions you are trying to convey.

His teachings are confidently tailored to who you are; it is within his key qualities to adapt to your styles; to help you read and bloom within it.

And trust me, he will always believe in you; and sometimes, he can come across to be direct; but that’s ONLY because he cares; and he knows your potential, and does not want you to sell yourself short.

Over the period I was able to seek his teachings, I want to say Winston, I am privileged to have been taught by you. You have not only permanently deepened my understanding AND joy in music and piano; I feel more developed and understood as a person
