Yimin is a pianist, composer, and a registered music therapist based in Melbourne inner city area. She grew up playing classical piano and did her bachelor degree in musical composition. She is currently working as a registered music therapist.

After living her formative years in Malaysia, she moved to New Zealand and did her bachelor there. While she was a composition student, she got invited to be a composer for the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music (BIFEM). BIFEM is a worldly-famous festival with an emphasis on premiere or rarely-performed long-form works, BIFEM platforms virtuosity in musicianship and innovation in composition. She then moved to Australia and did her masters degree in music therapy.

Yimin has had 18 years of piano playing and completed her Grade 8 (ABRSM) when she was 14 years old. While piano and composition are her main strengths, she also plays the guitar, violin, electric bass, and erhu (Chinese instrument). She is also experienced in music groups such as Chinese orchestra, Western orchestra, choirs, bands, and ensembles.
