Kristy started learning the piano at the age of 4 and started violin as her second instrument at the age of 6. Kristy received her Trinity ATCL diploma in piano in 2016 and DipABRSM in violin in 2017. She also received her Grade 8 viola certificate with distinction in 2016.
Kristy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Honours in 2022 where she studied piano performance under the tutelage of Ms.Nancy Loo and harpsichord with Dr. Timothy Kwok Ka Ho. She studied instrumental pedagogy and research with Dr. Annie Mok and Dr. Brian Thompson and was awarded the Michael E. McClellan Music Essay Prize 2022 for her piano pedagogy research. Kristy has performed in many orchestras and toured overseas for music exchanges, competitions and festivals.
Kristy also graduated with a Master of Music Therapy at The University of Melbourne and is currently a registered music therapist (RMT) with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). She has experience working with children with developmental delays, people with dementia and older adults in clinics, hospitals and residential aged care homes.
Kristy believes in the power of music to engage and empower people, and develops her approach to family and person-centred care, using music-based intervention to support people with disabilities and their families to achieve therapeutic goals in a safe positive space with a strength-based and neuro-affirming approach.
Kristy loves her work as an inspiring music teacher to kids and young adults and also aspires to develop her therapeutic skills as a thriving music therapist.
