Yoyo Zhou

  • Associate Diploma in Music (AmusA) Violin
  • Currently studying a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music
  • 6-year professionally trained Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS) Student

I offer private lessons that have a targeted and individual approach. I’m dedicated to bring out the most in my students, no matter if they are just beginning their musical journey or are already at an intermediate level. My teaching goal is to create an encouraging environment to foster students’ passion, helping them to achieve their musical aspirations and goals, whether that be AMEB exams, auditions or concert preparation.

Experience: I am a VCA Secondary School graduate, and was offered to study at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music on an entrance scholarship. I’m also a recipient of the 2023 Corinna D’Hage Mayer String Scholarship, and the 2024 Brunner Music Prize for Improvement. I’ve participated in the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), Melbourne Youth Orchestras (MYO) and Melbourne String Ensemble (MSE). My musical experience includes numerous performances as a soloist, concertmaster of the VCASS orchestra in their 2022 'Magalu Gaangu' gala concert, and being a member of the JAYS Quartet, who were awarded Musica Viva’s 2022 ‘AUSTA String Prize’.

Other than violin performance, I was selected by the renowned Flinders Quartet for their 2021 “Young Female-Identifying Composer Development Program”, to work under the guidance of Dr. Katy Abbott to workshop and record an original work.

My wide scope of musical knowledge is well-equipped to help you achieve your aspirations on the violin!
