Songwriting Lessons

Zachary Lazarevski (Zac) studied songwriting and music composition with many award-winning composers and lyricists including Robin A. Smith, Elliott Gyger and Pat Pattison.

For four years, Zac took weekly private lessons in composition, music theory and piano from award-winning composer Robin A. Smith. Robin composed the song “Ti Adoro” for the great opera singer Luciano Pavarotti. Robin has also composed or arranged music for Kanye West, One Direction, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Lionel Ritchie and the list goes on and on. For one and a half years Zac studied music theory and composition with award-winning composer Elliott Gyger. Elliot studied with possibly the most famous of all Australian composers – Peter Sculthorpe and has a PhD in music composition from Harvard University. His On-Air – Dialogue for Orchestra (2011) was awarded the Sydney Symphony 80th Anniversary Composition Prize. Zac has also studied lyric writing with Pat Pattison - author of the extremely popular book Writing Better Lyrics. Pattison has taught lyric writing to 7-time Grammy winner John Mayer and 3-time Grammy winner Gillian Welch.

Zac has studied songwriting at Monash University and music composition at The University of Melbourne. He is currently studying Jazz Performance at the prestigious Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University. He is a mature-age student specialising in jazz singing and jazz piano. He also has a TAFE diploma in popular music performance completed in 2008.

Zac is also a highly experienced pop & jazz vocal coach and pop & jazz piano teacher and can also teach acoustic guitar. So if you want to be a singer-songwriter-pianist-guitarist then Zac is your one-stop-shop as he can incorporate all these skills into your lessons.
