Music Theory Lessons

I believe that a strong understanding of music theory is an essential component of a well-rounded music education and plays a vital role in the development of young musicians. Music theory provides students with the tools to better understand, interpret, and perform music with confidence and intention. I approach the teaching of theory in an enthusiastic and supportive manner, ensuring concepts are introduced in a clear, engaging, and practical way that connects directly to the music students are learning. Lessons are tailored to each student’s experience and ability level, allowing theory to be explored at an appropriate pace while reinforcing musical understanding and creativity. Whether working within the AMEB syllabus or a non-exam-focused framework, I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel confident applying music theory knowledge to their playing and overall musicianship.
