Alexey Yemtsov Piano School

Piano lessons from the renowned international concert pianist and a prize-winner of many piano competitions. My approach is rooted in methodological ideas of the prominent line of the Russian Piano School and is supported by over 20 years of both performance and teaching experience, as well as extensive academic research. Since 1998 I have taught in various schools in Sydney, given many masterclasses around Australia and internationally, with the number of my private students surpassing 350 throughout the years.

The goal of my instruction is to help each student achieve a perfect balance between diverse aspects of artistry: cultivating immaculate technical abilities, developing emotional comprehension of music, mastering expressive techniques suitable to various contexts, fostering a capability to create a musical narrative. Private lessons allow me to go beyond the focus on simple technical prowess of a particular piece and spend time training specific skills required for concert performance, stage presence and, most importantly, on development of overall artistic expression and independent musical cognition.

I have created a specialised methodology for independent piano practice depending on the level of student’s expertise, which has been proven successful in concert and exam preparation. All my students pass their piano examinations, mostly with grade A or higher, and several also became winners of various competitions and Eisteddfods. I also provide lessons for piano teachers seeking professional development.

The lessons are conducted in my studio in Kingston, Tasmania, or virtually.
