I teach people how to play any song simply after listening to it. I emphasize aural training (musical ear) and teach using the Suzuki method and syllabus, through which students learn how to translate heard melody into instrumental practise. I encourage a learner-directed method, and after a student's technique is solidified, the musical world opens up and they are free to create, improvise and explore within whichever genre they choose. I also teach music theory which can optionally accompany violin lessons.
Lessons are $64 per hour, or $32 per half hour.
I source and provide students with violins, which they may borrow and take home free of charge for the duration of their tutoring. Students can purchase their borrowed instrument, which will cost between $100-$200 as they are second hand. I aim to provide people wishing to learn violin with quality instruments at very low cost.
I began playing the violin when I was six years old. I took professional lessons for a further 8yrs and played in an Orchestra for 4yrs, as well as part of the ensemble for a production of 'Les Miserables' and the Baroque play 'Orlando'. I am proficient in music theory and have completed grade 4 AMEB music theory. I am presently studying 2nd yr psychology at Unimelb under a BSci. I also play guitar and piano but did not have formal training; I am self-taught, and was able to do so due to the skill set Suzuki training provided me.
