Patrick Brennan - Bassoon Teacher

Patrick Brennan is the Artistic Director and CEO of the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music. He also teaches bassoon.

Patrick Brennan has studied music at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Recently he was selected for his fine conducting skills, to participate in the prestigious and highly competitive Symphony Australia Conductor Development Program. As a professional musician, Patrick has played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Philharmonia, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. In 2009 he was also invited to be the NSW representative member of the steering committee writing the Bassoon syllabus for the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB).Patrick is a highly sought-after professional conductor.

Patrick has worked with numerous music students throughout NSW in various capacities within the Department of Education and Training (DET) Arts Unit, in government and non-government schools and in tertiary institutions, including the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.

In 2010 Patrick was appointed Co-Director of the DET Junior State Wind Band. Patrick was also the founder and Chief Conductor of the Northern Sydney Schools Wind Orchestra (NSSWO) for 5 years. Until recently Patrick has been the Director of Bands at the Forest High School, Barrenjoey High School, Forestville Public School and Collaroy Plateau Public School.

In 2010 Patrick established the Northern Sydney Symphonic Wind Ensemble (NSSWE) program. This program delivers musical extension to students in the Northern Sydney region and is quickly gaining the reputation of being one of Sydney’s premier symphonic wind ensemble programs. Patrick heads the vibrant NSSWE team of professional conductors and directors who work with the four symphonic wind ensembles and four stage bands.
